Boards
for São Tomé
In February, PTS was able to deliver the long-awaited shipment of surfboards for the Soma Surf Therapy Program. The shipment was not from Bern as usual, but from Lisbon. This meant for us as a positive side effect 2 weeks of surfing vacations, during which some things went wrong - from a broken rental transporter in France, to start-up problems with the shipping company in Lisbon, to surfing in sleet in Spain - everything was there. Despite all this it was a great trip, where we met a lot of nice people and experienced a lot of hospitality. Many thanks again to all involved! We are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the equipment on São Tome.
In order to make the most of the kilometers driven, we filled the van with donated material on the return trip, which had remained in Spain with Pukas in the fall due to lack of space in the vehicle.
We were also able to give some of the donated surfboards to Paddlepaddle in Hossegor, who would like to donate the boards to Morocco. What we definitely learned on this trip is to load a big pile of surfboards from one van to another in record speed, using more and more sophisticated loading techniques to still have as much space as possible to stay overnight. And above all: improvisation is everything ☺
