Hatay - one of Turkey's most important ancient settlements - is a secret heaven in the South East of Turkey, next to the syrian border. It offers a multicultural richness in food, culture and people and it also has 14 km wide long beach surrounded by the mountains.

Our partner Deniz Toprak who started the non-profit organization "Hatay Sorf Merkezi" explains: "Unfortunately Hatay had a major earthquake in 2023 Feb causing over 50 thousands of people’s death. Many of us lost our home, friends, relatives or family. The city will need many years to rebuild its culture and homes. We started a surf school free for all the kids from Hatay below 16 years old and we are hoping that the connection with the waves and the sea would help this community to heal and rebuild.

We have started a surf therapy center for kids under 16 and give free surf lessons. We also raise a new generation of surf teachers. This year locals from the previous year are now teaching the new kids. Finding surfboards is a difficult thing in Turkey so with the boards coming from PTS we made surfing more accessible for everyone."

Summer season between June-September has consistent knee to waist high beginner intermediate waves . The weather is more than 30 Celcius hot. Between September-December and March-May we get head high overhead waves in the main beach but it also offers point breaks inside the pier and cliffs.

Between June-October you would only need a lycra or shortie. October-December &April-May is 3/2 and 4/3 wetsuit.  Between December to March it is 4/3 to 5/4 wetsuit needed.
